There is a growing number of sensors, cameras and measuring devices in public space — but who placed them, what do they measure, and why? This paper makes the case for SensRNet: a national sensor registry as a shared, transparent platform for municipalities, sensor owners, citizens and researchers.
The proposed architecture is distributed — each municipality runs its own node — and uses event sourcing to synchronise state across nodes, with a public viewer providing a unified overview.
Presented at the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) conference, 3 September 2021.
